Our Story

Eight piece Paekākāriki band Tū Tilley was initially formed to play at the The Ship Show at a local surf club in 2017. They enjoyed themselves so much they decided to continue and went through as many name changes as they did gigs, finally settling on Tū Tilley as their rehearsal space is at No.2 Tilley Road, Paekākāriki.

Made up from diverse musical backgrounds Tū Tilley jam classical cello and flute with reggae, funk and jazz music to create easy to dance to rhythms and grooves.

Lead vocalist Tanira Kingi

Even more diverse than musical styles is the dynamic range of powerhouse vocalist Tanira Kingi who leads from the front. She effortlessly fills the room with sweet melodies and harmonies. An absolute favourite act Tū Tilley play to sell out crowds and plan to spread the aroha this festival season with their truly unique sound.

They have released two singles, ‘White Cloud Island’ an evocative waiata with a messages from our past and for the future, and ‘Here I Go’, a positive song about hitting rock bottom.
